A little about The Red Lion

Located in the heart of Handcross, West Sussex, The Red Lion is the perfect location to relax, dine, and celebrate a whole host of special occasions.

Offering a wide selection of freshly prepared dishes, The Red Lion is renowned for serving good, honest pub food and drink that will satisfy even the fussiest taste buds.

Featuring a small yet welcoming outdoor eating and drinking area, this pub, bar and restaurant is a great place to enjoy alfresco dining when the sun is shining during the summer months.

The Red Lion’s menus are also jam packed with lots of seasonal favourites, light lunchtime bites, and miniature versions of classic dishes designed for your little ones, as well as tapas style sharers, traditional British classics, and fish dishes.

But that’s not all… you’ll also find a wide range of wines and cask ales that are perfect for washing down your favourite dishes. 

Open Monday – Saturday 11am- 11pm and Sunday Midday -11pm, The Red Lion has a beer garden, patio area with lighting, ample car parking, and disabled car parking spaces.

Other general facilities include free Wi-Fi access, wheelchair access, and a baby changing facility. Our child friendly pub also welcomes dogs in the bar area, so you can dine with all the family in tow.

Getting Here

The perfect spot for a birthday lunch, weekend dinner or a girly evening, The Red Lion is situated on the High Street in Handcross and can be reached by car, on foot, or by rail.

Handcross is situated on the A23 road, just 4.2 miles south of Crawley, and close to the towns of Haywards Heath and Horsham. Ample car parking spaces are available when you arrive.

If you’re travelling by train, Haywards Heath, Horsham, and Three Bridges stations are all approximately 15 minutes away from The Red Lion. Gatwick airport is also within easy driving distance.

Just minutes away from Highcross, you’ll find two wonderful Gardens – Nymans Gardens and High Beeches. Nymans Gardens is a classic garden complete with evocative ruins, beautiful plants, impressive views, and sprawling woodland. High Beeches boasts over 25 acres of stunning landscape, including important tree collections and a lovely wildflower meadow. Once you’ve finished exploring, The Red Lion offers the perfect spot to relax and refuel.
